Hello, my name is Nicola and I am a counsellor based in Crewe, Cheshire offering either face to face or online individuals counselling sessions.
As a qualified and experienced Counsellor I am able to offer you a safe space to explore whatever is on your mind and causing you concern. This space is yours with the knowledge that it is confidential and non-judgmental.
A place for you to talk openly, with the freedom and understanding that you are being truly heard and listened to, in an accepting way. The person-centred approach gives you the freedom to control and explore whatever it is you need to and to find the way forward that is right for you.
Although qualifed to a Degree level in person-centred counselling, I also appreciate the influence of other approaches.
My career started within the Financial Services Industry many years ago until life took me on another path. This path took me to working within the Funeral Industry. However, I still knew deep down that there was something else missing from my life which has since led me to become a Counsellor, an Independent Celebrant and I also work with Young People in a Residential Care setting. As a Celebrant primarily my work is within the Funeral Industry therefore I experienece many people faced with loss and loneliness.
As well as working in both private practice and within charitable organisations I also have an experience with a wide range of clients, both in short and long term therapy.
There are many reasons why people consider counselling, some being those who have exerienced neglect or abuse, whether that be online, emotional, narcissistic, physical, sexual, financial or through Child Sexual Exploitation. Reasons of difficulties within relationships, anxiety, grief and loss or addiction to name a few.
I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their guidelines and also have a current full enhanced DBS check and I am Emergency First Aid Trained.
Sometimes life can be a testing time with many challenges along the way.
This may bring about overwhelming feelings of helplessness or feelings of being alone your thoughts. You may experience feelings of conflict and tensions which you feel you are unable to cope with during these times.
A particular area that interested me during my studies was whether there are differences between males and females with regards to how they cope with life challenges; along with how significant life events can affect everyone in different ways. Whether that be children leaving home, divorce, the loss of a spouse, parent or reaching that age in life for women ie: the menopause and how this can affect relationships.
There are no forbidden areas to explore within counselling, some being, neglect, shame, anxiety, low mood, grief and bereavement, self harm, trauma, self-confidence and self-esteem, suicide, loss of a loved one, age, gender or the pressures of everyday life.
Through Person-Centered Counselling you will find that a therapeutic and supportive relationship allows you to openly talk through your feelings. Enabling you to gain a greater self awareness so that you can truly be yourself in your relationships, gaining a balance within your life.
If you can relate to any of these or just feel like you need someone impartial to talk things through with. Or you are aware that certain feelings are triggered and you have no explanation as to why. Take that positive step of reaching out and beginning your counselling journey. This may be the hardest thing you will have done and yes counselling can be a challenging process and it wont happen overnight. It will happen in its own time, be gentle with yourself,
you are worth it.
"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know"
